Postdoctoral Researcher
Dr Anna Fleming
Anna completed a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Manchester, where she developed an interest in gene expression management and disease-related dysregulation. She pursued a Master’s by Research under Prof Stefan Roberts at the University of Bristol, examining cholesterol’s role in WT1 cofactor BASP1 activity and discovering nuclear cholesterol’s involvement in gene regulation.
In 2019, Anna joined the University of Dundee to complete a CRUK-funded PhD in Dr Kasper Rasmussen’s lab. Her work identified the previously uncharacterised protein PROSER1 as a novel interacting partner of DNA-demethylating TET enzymes, and characterised its role in TET function during haematopoiesis and development.
Anna relocated to London in November 2024 and joined the Frost Lab as a Postdoctoral Associate, where she characterises transposons’ roles as regulatory elements in placental tissue.
