Research Study Manager & Pre-doctoral Candidate

Carlotta Valensin

Carlotta earned her BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2020, focusing on applying engineering to human physiology. She completed an MSc at Imperial College London studying mechanical forces in early cardiac development.

Following two years in molecular diagnostics developing electrochemical viral detection devices, she joined King’s College London in 2023 to manage the INSIGHT-2 pregnancy and early childhood cohort at St Thomas’ Hospital with the Tribe Lab. The study aims to uncover biological mechanisms underlying pregnancy complications such as preterm birth.

In 2025, Carlotta received a Wellbeing of Women predoctoral scholarship to investigate epigenetic changes in placentas from INSIGHT-2 participants with type 1 diabetes.
